Fasting Options

Fasting is a spiritual discipline that helps us slow down, quiet distractions, and focus on prayer and God’s Word. Below are two fasting options you can participate in.The Daniel FastThe Daniel Fast is based on Daniel 1:8–16 and Daniel 10:2–3. It is a partial fast that focuses on simple, whole foods while eliminating distractions and indulgences.

Foods You May Eat:

  • Fruits

  • Vegetables

  • Whole grains

  • Legumes (beans, lentils)

  • Nuts and seeds 

  • Water

Foods to Avoid:

  • Meat and animal products

  • Dairy

  • Sweets and desserts

  • Fried or processed foods

  • Bread made with yeast

  • Sugary drinks and caffeine

Purpose:To seek God with humility, discipline the body, and sharpen spiritual focus through prayer and Scripture.Regular Fast.

 

A regular fast is a complete fast from food for a set period of time, while continuing to drink water (and in some cases clear liquids).

What This Looks Like:

No solid food. Water only (or water and clear liquids if needed)Length may vary (from part of a day to multiple days)

Purpose: To fully dedicate time to prayer, repentance, worship, and listening for God’s direction.
